Eight days of Fantasy Filmfest: a survival guide

Published: Last editorial review:

The festival pass is bought, the schedule is ambitious and your sleep pattern already looks nervous. With a little preparation, eight days in the dark do not have to become your own personal disaster film.

Plan the day, not your failure

Mark the films you absolutely have to see first. Then add the strong maybe-candidates. An empty slot is not defeat; it is a secret recovery film without a screen.

Treat breaks like programme items

Twenty minutes between films disappear faster than a supporting character in the woods. Drink, eat something and step outside for a moment: three remarkably effective activities that require no subscription.

Your seat is a strategy

If you watch several screenings in a row, do not choose the acoustic ejector seat every time. A good view matters. A neck that still cooperates on day three matters more.

Write down impressions immediately

After five films, titles, characters and blood-covered tools tend to merge. Two sentences and a spontaneous FearScore after the credits can rescue entire conversations later.

Have the courage to leave a gap

The toughest festival moment may not be a film but the decision to skip one. If you sit half asleep through screening six, you may end up rating only the seat in front of you.

The small emergency kit

FearScore verdict: You do not have to make every film. You only need to know which city you are in after the final credits.
